Dating Someone You Work With - A Do or Don't?

Although, I don't have any experience with this.

Most people spend many hours and days, with their co-workers and usually start to get a fill of who they really are. Which immediately starts the attraction, other than their looks, of course.

But then you have to ask yourself...

Is it worth potentially making the work environment awkward if it doesn't work out? Even though we like to give people the benefit of the doubt, let's assume the worst.

A friend of mine decided that he was going to date a girl whom he had worked with and hung out with quite often after work. So, of course one thing led to another and they became a couple. It was fine and dandy while it lasted for a couple years, but then it ended. And since they were both really close with the group of people that worked together in the same building, it made for awkward moments when they wanted to continue to hang out. But, that all changed when she informed them of how bad of a person he was, which made their co-workers dislike him and they didn't hang out anymore.

So, the moral of the story is, he lost a bunch of work friends - which made it awkward for him until he decided to quit and find a new job.

You could possibly be very discreet about it, so you don't have to worry about nosy people gossiping. But, then again, you have to rely on your counter part keeping quiet too. We all know women are dramatic, hell even some men are as well. So, really you're only setting yourself up for disaster if it fails. And who wants to see someone all the time, without having any space?

I don't know about you, but I like alone time. And constantly having my boyfriend "there" even at work, would probably irritate the shit out of me.

If you're in a different department altogether, then that's even better.

But who am I to say what's good or bad? Romance happens whether or not we want it to. And when you spend most of your days in the office, you're bound to spark some sort of interest towards another person.
